NC and SC Brewers Take Home Medals at U.S. Open Beer Championship

2014 US Open Beer Championship Winners

While thousands across the nation were sipping on their favorite beers this Fourth of July, the United States Open Beer Championship decided to announce their own favorites from this year’s competition. The U.S. Open Beer Championship is held every year, and it is open to both commercial breweries and award-winning homebrewers.

More than 3,000 beers spanning 81 different categories were judged, and NC and SC both did pretty well. And as you’ll see below, several of the breweries took home more than one medal (we’re looking at you, Lonerider!)

Gold in American Cream Ale: Fullsteam Brewery El Toro (Durham, NC)

Silver in Vegetable Beer: Fullsteam Brewery Carver (Durham, NC)
Silver in Classic Irish Dry Stout: Lynnwood Brewing Kiss My Irish Stout (Raleigh, NC)
Silver in Robust Porter: Lonerider Brewing Deadeye Jack (Raleigh, NC)
