About the Book

Beer Lover’s the Carolinas” is your guide to the best breweries, brewpubs and beer bars across North and South Carolina.

Both states are home to their share of breweries new and old, and this book offers a look into more than a hundred of them. Each brewery’s section offers a brief account of their history and philosophy, as well as a description of the atmosphere of the place and the beers offered there. Tasting notes are provided for a handful of beers at each brewery, as well as a “Beer Lover’s Pick” that you have to try if it’s available.

Prefer to belly up to a bar? Some of the best craft beer bars in both states are featured as well.

In addition to serving as a comprehensive guide to breweries and bars in both states, the book includes information on:

  • Beer Festivals: Some of the finest beer festivals in the nation take place in North and South Carolina. Keep this section firmly in mind when deciding which festivals to attend each year!
  • City Pub Crawls: Walkable routes for Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh and Charleston allow you to visit some of the area’s better craft beer destinations in a matter of hours.
  • In The Kitchen: This section features six recipes from breweries and brewpubs that use their beer in the dishes. Recreate Foothills Brewing’s decadent pear & arugula salad with candied pecans & stout cranberries, or try your hand at Bull City Burger’s soft rye pretzels with beer cheese spread.
  • Brew Your Own Beer: The BYOB section begins with a detailed listing of homebrew shops across North and South Carolina, and ends with clone recipes from Wicked Weed, Highland, NoDa and Thomas Creek.
